When you feel like your creativity needs a little pick-me-up, circle the wagons around the earthy and solid parts of your life and let the elements guide you into a creative revival to carry you through. This is a perfect time to give space for the hand and heart work of building your own little metal and plaster book on whose pages you can draw, paint, or write the slowing thoughts that a creative clearing inspires.
Adapted from my week long project-focused, intensive course, this ebook will teach you the step-by-step techniques to build your own Handbook of Elements ready for journaling and original art.
Through detailed written instructions and 19 tutorial video tutorials, I teach you how to transform, build up, and adorn sheet metal by adding vintage and found elements. Using simple, approachable metal-smithing techniques and materials I guide you in adding your own original fabricated bezels which I will demonstrate how to fill with resin and imagery as well as lidding found objects with mica.
You will also learn the nuances of plaster and various plaster-like products to create pages and unexpected journal surfaces to stockpile between the metal covers. I will demonstrate various techniques for working with the plaster pages including painting, collage, wax addition, and transfers.
Even if you have never made a book, soldered, or worked with plaster before, you will thrive as you work through the ebook, review the videos as many times as you need to, and enjoy your permanent access to all the information that was a part of the live online experience of this workshop.
