WHAT: an (approx) hour long video course that walks you through the creation of this painting from beginning to end. In it I will show you my favorite techniques for creating luminous layers using paper, paint, and encaustic medium. Of course, as always, you can pick and choose from the techniques to create your own painting according to what lights your creative fire.
WHY: Why not? In my 14+ years of teaching art, there were very few instances where I finished a piece from it’s bare-bones beginning to it’s layered finish in front of the same set of eyes. I'm excited to showe you the process because I know sometimes it’s hard to know where to start and when to finish. I want you to see how you can navigate the ugly (sometimes big) middle parts of a painting to create something you can perch on the shelf, gawk at for a good, long time, and feel so darn proud of what a beauty you created.
