Good Ground: Texture Reimagined Workshop
Join me for this detailed exploration in creating your own versatile texture ground for mixed media, encaustic, book arts, visual journalling, and textile work on nearly any surface or substrate you love working on.
I’ve been working with plaster professionally for about 20 years and even longer than that as a curious creative. I spent many years working around the limitations of plaster in it’s various forms while also falling more and more in love with the porosity, textural potential, and the incredible receptive surface it provides. I surrendered to it’s vulnerability and limitations on flexible surfaces (like book pages and stretched canvas) until I developed a basic recipe that not only allows for all the lovely qualities of plaster to shine but that also creates an incredibly durable and versatile ground that traditional plaster doesn’t allow for.
In this workshop, we are going to deep dive into this formula and the many ways it can be modified and adapted to create subtle dreamy texture, intense rough texture, and anything in between.
We’ll be diving into various recipes and the potential and opportunities each one provides for the mediums you prefer to work with. It’ll be just enough science to give you the confidence to modify the recipe as your work evolves and even more creative fun to not need to be precise!
If you’ve loved pre-made texture mediums but have found them to be cost prohibitive for creating large work or would like more versatility in the materials they can be combined with, this Good Ground workshop is just for you!
Course content is downloadable for lifetime access!
